I’m desperate for some summer shoes! I need a few pairs to refresh my summer wardrobe. Could you please recommend a few styles that would integrate well into my wardrobe that I can use for both casual and smart casual outings?
It’s an excellent time to start looking for your summer shoes, a few tips for choosing styles below:
-Criss Cross ankle straps are generally much more flattering, especially on a thicker ankle. The V shape created by the straps from the front can appear much more elegant than a full ankle strap.
– If you are concerned about your ankles or lower legs, wedges are a flattering and comfortable option. If you choose a nude colour which works well with your skin tone it will also lengthen the leg.
– Be certain that ankle straps are not too tight, they will only rub and hurt. Skin bulging over tight ankle straps is never a good look. (Think Kim K when she was pregnant with North….eeeeek)
– Always check the bottom of flat sandals and be prepared to buy grips or rub sandpaper on the bottom of the sole. It is very likely you will need to add rough surface for extra grip.
There is nothing worse than injuring yourself on a tiled or concrete floor when your shoes have absolutely no grip. Keep an eye out for synthetic man-made soles or a non-rubber texture, these slippery soles are very common in cheap sandals.
Here are a few of my favourite styles for the season ahead…(Click the images to go through to the online link).
These are great if you don’t like to get your toes out! They look great with shorts, summer dresses, skirts, jeans etc!
A small block heel makes legs look longer and a neutral print can dress up even the most simple of outfits.
A classic black flat sandal, whilst this a very boring choice, it’s a very classic style and goes with everything. If black isn’t your favourite choice, go for a nude, beige or brown colour. Whatever works best for your wardrobe.
Another versatile flat option with gold detailing to add a bit of interest. Beautiful with a maxi dress, shorts, skirts or jeans.
These classic neutral heeled sandals would be a great go-to for any events this summer or easy enough to manage for work.
Lace up sandals are very on-trend this summer, and these would look great with denim, jeans, summer dresses and shorts.
These croc blush slides are a nice way to try the trend without going full birkenstock.
A metallic slide is also a nice way to add interest to a simple summer outfit.
The on-trend summer heel, a block heeled mule in a neutral tone that will work with numerous outfit combinations.
Still popular from last year cutaway ankle straps and lace up fastening. Wear with distressed denim or summer dresses.
These are going to be my go-to summer heel, comfortable in a nice supple leather and easy to dress up or down. Love these, and amazing with white summer dresses.
A few wedge options for you below, wedges are great for BBQ’s or any function that is on grass or sand!(Think beach weddings!) Nothing worse than sinking into soft ground when wearing heels!
My obsession with espadrilles continues this summer, here are a few of my favourite styles.
I hope you found some summer footwear inspiration here. I know there is a serious lack of jandals here, but thats the point! xx
