Thanks for watching my video on “Choosing Accessories” to shop the looks in the video, click the images – easy!

Accessories are considered everything except your clothes. So scarves, earings, sunglasses, watches.. etc..
Accessories are the key to achieving fresh ways to wear your clothes.

When choosing accessories think of the colour palette in your wardrobe.
For example, gold and bronze metals look great with reds, oranges, browns and purples.
Check out the autumn and spring palettes on the personal colour swatch app to see what colours mix well with gold.
Silver looks best with bright, bold colours like pink, blue and green. Take a look a the summer and winter palettes for the best colours that work with silver jewellery.

Tote Bags & Statement Necklaces

The size of your accessories should be proportional to your size and shape. If you are very petite you could look quite swamped with a large oversized tote or statement necklace. If in doubt choose medium sizes.

When choosing a watch select a piece which is versatile enough to be dressed up or down. Select a metal that suits your skin tone. Warmer skin tones look great with rose and yellow gold. A way of working out your skin tone is to take a quick look at your wrist and if your veins look more green than blue you will suit gold.

If veins are showing as more blue colour, silver jewellery will look better on your skin.

Another good option is to choose a watch which has an interchangeable strap, this way you can swap a leather strap for a more casual strap.

One thing I find people struggle with is choosing appropriate necklaces for different necklines.

I love a button up shirt with a statement necklace, it looks great when the necklace is peeking out from under the collar and is a very easy look to pull off.

Higher necklines look great with a longer chain, it’s simple and elegant. It also helps to elogate your neck.

V necklines look great with a simple fine piece of jewellery.

When wearing strapless tops, round necklaces create a nice balance.

And when wearing a one shoulder or asymetrical top, trade a necklace for statement earrings.

Handbags are one of the most important accessories and they can make or break your entire look. I can’t recommend enough that you invest in a high quality neutral colloured leather bag.
One thing to consider when choosing a handbag is to see where it is finishing on your body. If you have wider hips, you would want to be weary of your bag finishing there, as it could make you appear wider.
